Following porbably his best start of his career, Burnett was shaky against the Blue Jays in his last start. He surrendered three runs in six innings giving up 10 hits and throwing two more wild pitches. In his career at the Coliseum, Burnett has a 2.13 ERA. Against Oakland over the course of his career, A.J. is 2-2 with a 4.14 ERA and a WHIP of a little over one and a half. Since Burnett’s horrible start in Boston, he has an ERA of 2.50 in 11 starts. 
Tidbits:
No Athletics hitter has more than three hits against Burnett in their careers. Mark Ellis has the most PA against Burnett with 18. The Yankees are 16-7 when Burnett starts the game. The Yankees score an average of 5.83 runs scored when Burnett is on the mound.
Key to the Game:
The Athletics bullpen has an ERA of 3.76, which is considerably better than any of their starters. Its up to the Yanks to get to the starters, and get a lead before getting into that strong bullpen.

Brett was designated by assignment by the Yankees on July 22, and will be making his first appearance tonight as an Athletic. Brett made his last appearance as a Yankee on July 11th, when he gave up one run in 1.1 innings against the Angels. In five career games against the Yankees, Tomko is 0-2 with an ERA of 9.00 and a WHIP over two. In 260 career starts, Brett has an ERA of 4.66.
Tidbits:
A-Rod is 4 for 8 with two home runs in his career against Tomko. Johnny Damon has the most PA against Tomko in his career with 18.
