Yanks not out of options

You can talk all you want about the Yankees and what they need. They just got Granderson, and for the most part, this team looks pretty much the same as last year offensively. But when it comes to pitching, that’s where this team begins to worry me. Heres some analysis of the pitching situation:

The pitching situation:

  • With Coke and Bruney gone, Chamberlain has to stay in that bullpen.
  • Hughes will probably go between starting and relieving again.
  • Expect to have some injuries, the Yankees were very lucky last year.

So, as it stands right now, the starting rotation seems to be the problem. Right now, it’s Sabathia, Burnett, Sabathia. That’s not enough. So, pitching is the problem here. The Yankees have a thin bullpen right now, but if you get some decent starters, the bullpen will fill itself in. If you get some starters, Hughes can be more flexible, as can Chamberlain.

So who’s out there? Here is a list of all the free agent starting pitchers. I have bolded the ones that I feel the Yankees should consider.

*I’d like to see Aceves give starting another shot… What did he get, one chance last year!? I know his role has been “long relief,” but isn’t that a synonym for ‘multiple innings?’ If Ace can perform well for four innings, I’ll put my money on the fact that he can perform well for six… Either way, I’m on the “sign Ben Sheets” campaign…

well first off Joba been a better starter then Hughes so if anything Hughes should be in the pen before Joba

are pitching lineup right now is

    CC
    AJ
    Pettite
    Joba
Hughes (he will be on a inning limit )
so we need one more good starter and Sheets hopefully will be it out of everyone in FA he is the only one that has the abilty to be a #1 starter so id love the rotation of
    CC (lefty)
    Sheets (righty)
    Pettite (lefty)
    AJ (righty)
    Joba (righty)
and Hughes gets some innings as a 6th starter he is only going to get so many innings anyway so we can slot him in there when needed incase injurys
